11/11 1mb Dingles Day roundup
11/11; 1MB Dingles Day! (Woah, lots of 1’s!)
Our biggest event yet was an absolute hit! Twelve players from all around Cleveland battled in a whirlwind of singles/doubles craziness! Before we get into the action, I want to shout out and thank all of our players. This resurgence of former college players getting together for some competition and camaraderie (AKA a nice fancy word for having a beer) has been so rewarding.
On the day of the event we had all names added to a hat (a 1MB bucket hat to be exact) where we pulled for teams and divisions.
Group A
Peter & Wade
Nolan & Ali
Jamie & Victoria
Group B
Garrett & Alex
Nikki & Aris
Adam & Christine
After some SERIOUS grinding, Group A winners Peter and Wade took on Group B winners Nikki and Aris. Points consisted of 20-40 ball rallies in the finals, and that’s not an exaggeration. These four absolute beasts fought and clawed their way to the finish. (The fact we had 0 cramping issues during this event was all due the the fact we were chugging LMNT drinks provided by my favorite tennis player in the group, Ali Marks. She really is the BWOAT [Best wife of all time])
When all was said and done, Peter and Wade took down Nikki and Aris in the finals making Peter a 3 TIME 1MB Champ. (3PETE!) Wade now enters the pool as the 2nd ever 1MB CHAMP as well.
Peter and Wade without a doubt played some seriously high level dingles, but no player was better then Nikki McFall. She battled through the punk dudes of the group better then anyone and was the winner of a Lacoste Racquet donated by my awesome Tecnifibre Rep Ryan Rader. We love and appreciate you Ryan, and congrats to Nikki for being the player of the day!
No 1MB event is complete without an after party, and our Dingles Day event finished off at Masthead Brewing. Beers were consumed, laughs were had, and jokes were told. It was an outstanding day and my favorite 1MB event to date. Dingles format is here to stay and we will continue to grow off of this event. It will only get bigger and better!
Now.. on to 1MB 2K24!
